Pre Disaster Planning for Hurricanes

Hurricane Planning

Some of the most destructive events that have occurred on our planet have been from Hurricanes. These storms can be huge and can destroy entire towns and municipalities. These rotating storms generally form over warm ocean water and will most likely live until they are over land or swept northward into cold waters. High winds including from tornadoes inside the hurricane, torrential rain, lightning and storm surge are all potential threats from hurricanes. The Atlantic hurricane season starts on June 1 and lasts until November 30. The Pacific hurricane season runs from May 15 to November 30.
