Homeowner’s Claims Bill Of Rights

F.S. 627-7142 law requires a residential property insurance company to provide a Homeowner’s Claims Bill of Rights to a policyholder within 14 days of receiving a communication regarding a claim.

Included in F.S 627-7142 Law, “Homeowner’s Claims Bill Of Rights”

  1. The right to an acknowledgement by the insurer within 14 days of communicating a claim.
  2. Notice that claim is covered in part, or in full, denied or being investigated within 30 days.
  3. Information on services offered by the Department of Financial Services including free mediation, subject to certain restrictions.
  4. Provides advice for dealing with property insurance issues including neutral evaluation of a disputed claim, if the claim is for damage caused by a sinkhole and is covered by the policy.
  5. Within 90 days, subject ot any dual interest noted in the policy, receive full settlement or payment of the undisputed portion of the claim, or receive a denial.
